Brain damage occurs in 4 to 6 minutes without oxygen, and the average response time for EMT's to arrive on scene is 8 - 10 minutes.  CPR can help keep your brain alive until help arrives.
In order to be effective...CPR must be started promptly and done accurately.

OSHA requires businesses to offer CPR and First Aid training to their employees in order to be better prepared for emergencies.

The American Heart Association estimates that nearly 120,000 of approx. 300,000 people who die from sudden cardiac arrest could be saved with public access defibrillation.  "Public Access defibrillation, which places AEDs in the hands of trained laypersons, has the potential to be the single greatest advance in the treatment of VF cardiac arrest since the development of CPR."
